Teraspeed® consultants continuously evaluate and characterize
modeling methods for use in advanced Interconnect Engineering. With our AccuModel™ process, we utilize
state-of-the-art field solvers and simulation software, in conjunction with
our own validations against theory and practice. We model, simulate and
measure to understand the limits of approximations in our tools and their

- AccuModel™ Semiconductor Package Modeling - Using 2D, 3D and full-wave field
solvers, Teraspeed® consultants develop models of package sections for characterization, optimization
and system simulations. We utilize modeling technologies targeted to the
speed or bandwidth required by the specific design and continuously validate our models with measurements at Teraspeed® Labs.
- AccuModel™ 3-D Structure Modeling - Using 3-D and full-wave field solvers,
Teraspeed® consultants develop models of the structures used in high-performance
interconnect. Complex connectors, packages, pads, escape patterns, SMA launches
and via transitions are modeled to the bandwidth required for each specific
application and can be provided in Hspice compatable and S-parameter formats.
- AccuModel™ 2-D Structure Modeling - For planar structures, we employ 2-D
field solvers to extract RLGC parameters as a function of frequency for
the modeling of lossy transmission lines. These models, in Hspice W-element
table model format, have been validated for accuracy in modeling the latest
in differential communication interconnects at 3.125, 10 Gbps and 40 Gbps data rates. We have
experience with the modeling, measurement and correlation of various substrate
materials, including: FR-4, FR-406, Nelco 400-13SI, Gtek, and Rogers 4350, Pyralux FR, Pyralux AP and LCP.
- AccuModel™ Measurement Based Modeling - Teraspeed® Labs provides the experience
to develop accurate characterization boards for the study of macro or micro
details of a system. We provide fixturing for precise VNA and TDR based
measurements of insertion loss, return loss, crosstalk, impedance and de-embedded
parameters for transmission lines, vias, connectors and packages, along
with accurate measurement of material characteristics.
